I started in music at 12 years old, making grime beats for some of the scene’s top artists. Eventually I stepped out from behind the laptop and started writing and mc'ing under the name Smallz, earning support from SBTV, BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Rinse FM and more.

Like most artists, I made every mistake in the book. Sent the wrong emails. Reached out to the wrong people. Missed out on opportunities I didn’t even know existed.

Eventually, I opened a recording studio. While it ran as a commercial space, we also opened the doors for free to at-risk youth from the local community. One of those young artists went on to hit over 50 million streams and gain international attention, proof of what can happen when the right resources and people are put in front of someone with talent.

At the same time, I was building a successful career in sales and marketing. I launched a B2B growth agency called IceBreakerz, and over time realised something powerful: the same systems and tools that help businesses grow could help artists grow too, if they had access.

That’s why I created Plugd.
