Privacy Policy & GDPR Compliance
Effective Date: 30/05/2025
Last Updated: 30/05/2025
At Plugd, we’re committed to handling data responsibly, transparently, and in full compliance with GDPR and all relevant data protection laws. This page outlines how we collect, use, store, and protect the data on our platform, and how individuals in our database can take control of their information.
1. What kind of data we collect
We only collect business-related contact data for professionals operating within the music industry. This includes:
Full name
Job title
Company/organization
Work email address
Professional phone number (if publicly listed)
Location (country or region)
Industry tags (e.g. genre, role type, artists worked with)
We do not collect or store sensitive personal data, personal emails, or private addresses.
2. Where the data comes from
All contact information is sourced through legal and ethical means, including:
Publicly available sources such as official company websites, LinkedIn, press releases, artist bios, interviews, and industry directories
Direct contributions and verification by partners or representatives
Voluntary submissions by professionals and organisations who want to be contacted
We do not scrape, buy, or sell consumer databases. We only work with B2B data relevant to the music industry.
3. Legal basis for processing data
Plugd operates under the legitimate interest basis as outlined in Article 6(1)(f) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Our legitimate interest is to facilitate professional networking and outreach in the music industry — something that benefits both users (e.g. artists) and professionals (e.g. labels, managers, publishers) alike.
We conduct regular assessments to ensure this legitimate interest is balanced against the rights and freedoms of individuals listed in our platform.
4. How the data is used
We use this data solely to:
Help verified users discover and connect with relevant music industry professionals
Allow professionals to be contacted for potential partnerships, collaborations, representation, or legitimate business opportunities
Improve the relevance and searchability of our database
We do not use this data for unsolicited marketing, profiling, or unrelated advertising.
5. Data access and storage
All data is stored securely on GDPR-compliant cloud infrastructure
Access is strictly limited to Plugd staff and vetted development partners
Revealed contact information is only visible to the user who revealed it, and is never shared or distributed externally
We employ encryption, access control, and regular audits to protect against misuse or unauthorised access.
